In-School Eye Exams Held for Main Prep Students
The Ohio Optometric Foundation held an In-School Eye Exam (iSee) event recently where Main Preparatory Academy students were able to attend.
The Educational Empowerment Group was proud to announce two of their schools in Akron would participate, Main Preparatory Academy and Middlebury Academy. The program provided comprehensive eye exams by Dr. Samantha Zaczyk and Dr. Katie Greiner. In addition, custom eyeglasses were provided at no charge to over 40 students who were referred from a vision screening.
Staff and students were also pleased to have State Senator Kristina Roegner from the 27th senatorial district visit the event to witness firsthand the comprehensive eye exams conducted by experienced optometrists.
The Ohio Department of Health reports that over 70% of students referred to an eye doctor from a school vision screening, do not receive their necessary follow-up care. The iSee program seeks to bridge that gap by bringing comprehensive eye examinations and eyewear directly to students.
